A digital trophy case for the trophies that no longer fit behind the glass

What is a digital trophy case?
A digital trophy case is a touchscreen that shows photos of a school’s trophies and plaques alongside the teams, seasons and stories behind them, and it usually stands beside or in place of a glass trophy case. With HistoryShowcase, every trophy, including ones in storage, gets an entry with the team photo, the roster and up to 100 photos.

The case is full, and nobody knows the stories
Every school has the same trophy case problem. It filled up years ago, so newer trophies get squeezed onto the top shelf and older ones go into a storage closet. The ones still on display have a small engraved plate at best. Students walk past a tarnished 1987 regional trophy every day without knowing which team won it, who played or what it took.
A digital trophy case sits beside the physical case, or replaces it when the wall is needed for something else. Photograph each trophy, including the ones in storage, and pair it with the team photo, the roster and the story of the season. Keep the most meaningful pieces behind the glass and give every other trophy a home on the screen, where a visitor can tap it and read why it matters.
How does a digital trophy case compare with a glass trophy case?
| What matters | Glass trophy case | HistoryShowcase |
|---|---|---|
| The trophies themselves | Real, physical and permanent | Photographed front and back, engraving readable |
| Space | Fills up, and extras go to storage | Every trophy has a place on screen |
| The story behind a trophy | A small engraved plate | Team photo, roster and the season’s story |
| Finding one title | Scan the shelves | Filter by sport and year |
| Visitors outside the building | Only people in the lobby | Shared at the site’s web address |
What goes in a digital trophy case
Photos of every trophy
Photograph each trophy and plaque, front and back, so its engraving is readable on the screen.
The team behind it
Pair each trophy with the team photo, the roster and the coach who led that season.
Trophies from storage
Bring back the trophies boxed up in closets, so every title is visible again even if the trophy itself isn’t.
Championship seasons
Tell the story of the season in the biography: the record, the key games and the people who were there.
Individual awards
MVP plaques, medals and all-conference honors that never had shelf space of their own.
Pieces from merged programs
Trophies from closed schools or combined programs, kept as part of your school’s history.
How to arrange the case on screen
Organize the screen the way you would organize the glass, by level of title and then by sport. Photo galleries let visitors see each trophy up close.

How do you set up a digital trophy case?
Empty the closet first
Pull every trophy out of storage and the case, photograph each one, and note the sport, year and title on its engraving.
Match trophies to teams
Find the team photo and roster in yearbooks or old programs, and add them to each trophy’s entry.
Open it beside the glass
Preview the screen privately, publish it, and open it full screen on the touchscreen next to the case so visitors move from one to the other.
Where should a digital trophy case go?
- Beside the trophy caseVisitors look at the glass, then tap the screen to learn the stories.
- In place of the caseWhen the lobby needs the wall, one screen holds every trophy the case ever did.
- Hallway to the gymTeams walk past the titles they’re playing for on the way to warm up.
Digital trophy case questions
Do we have to get rid of our trophy case?
No. You can keep the case and its most important trophies and put the touchscreen beside it for everything else, or replace the case entirely when the space is needed. The screen works either way.
What do we do with trophies in storage?
Photograph them and add each one with its sport, year and story, and they’re back in front of visitors. The trophy itself can stay boxed.
How many photos can each trophy have?
Each entry holds up to 100 photos or media files, so you can include the trophy, the engraving, the team photo and pictures from the championship game.
Is a digital trophy case the same as a virtual trophy case?
Not quite. A digital trophy case is the touchscreen in your building. The same site also has its own web address, so you can share it as a virtual trophy case with people who can’t visit.
