What is senior athlete recognition?
Senior athlete recognition is how a school honors its graduating athletes, usually on senior night with a walk alongside family, a poster and a few words over the speakers, and sometimes with a lobby display. HistoryShowcase gives every senior a lasting profile with each sport they played, senior night photos and a paragraph from their coach, and keeps past classes.

Senior night is one night
Every season ends with a senior night: a walk across the field or court with parents, flowers, a poster and a few words over the speakers. It matters. But the fence banners come down, the posters go home and the next season starts. The senior who spent four years on the bench gets the same walk as the captain, and then both disappear from the building.
Senior athlete recognition on a touchscreen keeps each class in view. Every senior gets a profile with the sports they played, their years on each team, senior night photos with family and a few words from their coach. Seniors from past years stay in their own collections, so returning alumni can still find their class.
How does senior athlete recognition on a touchscreen compare with senior night posters?
| What matters | Senior night posters | HistoryShowcase |
|---|---|---|
| After senior night | Posters go home with families | Profiles stay up in the building |
| Multi-sport seniors | A poster for each season | One profile listing every sport |
| Words from the coach | Read once over the speakers | Written into the senior’s profile |
| Past classes | Rarely kept by the school | A collection for each class year |
What to include for each senior
Every senior athlete
Starters, reserves, managers and trainers. If they gave four years to a team, they get a profile.
Every sport they played
List each sport and the years they played it, so three-sport athletes are recognized for all three.
Senior night photos
The walk with family, the team photo and the moment after the last home game, up to 100 photos per senior.
Words from their coach
A short paragraph written by the coach about what this athlete meant to the team.
What’s next
College, work, service or a gap year, in the senior’s own words, if they want to share.
Past senior classes
Each class keeps its own collection, so alumni can find themselves years later.
How to set up senior recognition
Feature this year’s seniors by season and keep every past class a tap away. Portraits suit this page best.

Senior athlete recognition questions
Should we include seniors who didn’t start?
Yes. That’s the point. Every senior who stayed with a team for their high school years has a story worth telling, and the profile format is the same for everyone.
Who writes the profiles?
Coaches usually write a short paragraph, and seniors can add a few lines about what’s next. Add coaches as editors so they can draft; a publisher reviews before anything goes live.
What happens to the class after graduation?
Move them into a past classes collection. Nothing is deleted, so returning alumni can still find their senior profile.
Can visitors find one sport’s seniors?
Yes. Add a sport filter, plus year, so a family can go straight to this year’s soccer seniors or a past class. Visitors can also search by name.
