What is an all-state athletes wall?

An all-state athletes wall lists every student from a school named to an all-state team, with the sport, year and selection level, and it usually hangs in a gym lobby or near the weight room. With HistoryShowcase, each honoree gets one profile that holds every selection they earned, and visitors can filter the wall by sport, selection or year.

A certificate and a newspaper line isn’t enough

All-state honors usually arrive as a certificate, a mention in the local paper and a post on the team’s page. Then the season ends. Each sport receives its selections from a different association or coaches’ group, so no one keeps the full list. A painted or plaque wall fills up, and new names have nowhere to go.

An all-state athletes wall keeps every honoree together and leaves room for the next one. Each athlete gets a profile with the sport, year and selection, plus the season that earned it. Athletes honored in more than one sport or year stay in one profile, and younger athletes walking past can see exactly what it takes.

What goes on an all-state wall

  • Every honoree by sport

List all-state selections for every sport your school plays, boys and girls, in the same format.

  • The selection level

Show first team, second team, honorable mention or the categories your state uses, so the honor is clear.

  • Multi-year and multi-sport athletes

Keep every selection in one profile, so an athlete named in two sports or three seasons is easy to recognize.

  • The season behind the honor

Write a short summary of the season that earned the selection, in your coach’s words.

  • Academic all-state

If your state recognizes academic all-state teams, give those honorees their own collection.

  • Photos from the season

Add action shots and the award photo to each profile, up to 100 per athlete.

How to set up your all-state wall

Group honorees by season so the wall mirrors your athletic calendar. Ledgers list names cleanly; portraits put faces to them.

Import a spreadsheet with sport, selection and year columns, or type each athlete in and add photos later.

  3. Publish, then add each season

Preview the wall privately, publish it, and add new honorees as soon as each season’s selections are announced.

All-state athletes wall questions

We don’t have a complete list of past honorees. Should we wait?

No. Publish the selections you can confirm and add older ones as you find them. Changes save to a private draft until someone with publishing access publishes them.

How do we show athletes honored more than once?

Give each athlete one profile and list every selection in the subtitle and biography. Use the selection filter for the highest honor if that suits your school.

Can visitors find a single sport?

Yes. Add filters such as sport and selection, plus year, so a visitor can narrow the wall to one program in a couple of taps. They can also search by name.

Can honorees share their profile?

Yes. The published site has its own web address, so athletes and families can open the wall in any web browser.
