Welded trailers, plated dishes, rebuilt engines and finished cabinets are hard to put in a trophy case. Photograph the work and show it by pathway, with the credentials and competition results students earn.

## What is a CTE student showcase?

A CTE student showcase is a school display of work from career and technical education pathways, such as welding, culinary and health science projects, credentials and competition results, often at the CTE wing entrance or counseling office. HistoryShowcase gives each pathway its own folder, lets teachers add project photos as editors, and lets visitors filter by pathway and year.

- Made for: CTE directors, career and technical teachers and principals
- Where schools put it: Main entrance of the CTE wing, Counseling office, Middle school tours
- Layouts: Profiles, Photo gallery, Honors ledger
- Visitors can filter by: Pathway, Year
- Cost: Free to use. No payment details required.

## CTE work happens in the shop, out of sight

Career and technical students build real things. A welding class fabricates a trailer, a construction class frames a shed or a house, culinary students run a lunch service, and health science students earn credentials before they graduate. Most of that happens behind shop doors at the far end of the building, and families touring the school may never see it.

A CTE student showcase gives each pathway a front door. Projects are photographed from start to finish and listed with the student who made them. Credentials earned are recorded by pathway and year. Competition results get their own entries. Eighth graders deciding on a pathway, and their parents, see what students actually do in each program.

## How does a CTE student showcase compare with a shop open house?

| What matters | Shop open house | HistoryShowcase |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Seeing the work | In person, up close in the shop | Photos from raw material to finished piece |
| When families can see it | On the open house evening | Any day in the hallway or by link |
| Large builds | Shown if still on site | Up to 100 photos of each stage |
| Credentials earned | Mentioned by the teacher on the tour | Listed by student and year for each pathway |
| Who presents it | Teachers and students in each shop | Each teacher edits their own pathway |

## What belongs in a CTE student showcase

- **Each pathway.** A profile for welding, automotive, culinary, health science, construction, cosmetology, IT or whatever your school offers, explaining what students learn.
- **Student projects.** Capstone and class projects photographed from raw material to finished piece, with up to 100 photos each.
- **Credentials earned.** Industry credentials and certifications students earn in each pathway, listed by student and year.
- **Competition results.** Skills competition placings at the regional, state and national level, with the event and the student.
- **Work-based learning.** Internships, apprenticeships and job-shadowing placements, described with the student’s permission and the employer’s.

## How to set up a CTE showcase

Make one folder per pathway so each teacher owns their space, then let visitors filter across all of them.

Site: Career & Technical Education

- **Pathways** (Profiles): One profile per pathway, each opening its own sub-collections.
- **Student projects** (Photo gallery): One entry per project, with build photos in order.
- **Credentials earned** (Honors ledger): One row per credential with the student and year.
- **Competition results** (Honors ledger): Event, placing and level in the subtitle.

Visitors can filter by: Pathway, Year.

## How do you set up a CTE student showcase?

1. **Ask each pathway teacher for three projects.** A short list from every shop gets the showcase started without waiting for a full archive.
2. **Give teachers editor access.** Add each CTE teacher as an editor so they can add projects and results for their own pathway.
3. **Publish before pathway selection.** Preview the showcase privately and publish it before eighth graders choose their pathways.

## Where should a CTE student showcase go?

- **Main entrance of the CTE wing.** Visitors see the work before they walk into the shops.
- **Counseling office.** Students choosing classes see each pathway in action.
- **Middle school tours.** Share the web address with feeder schools ahead of tours.

## CTE student showcase questions

### Can each pathway look different?

Each pathway has its own collection with its own layout, so welding can be a photo gallery while health science uses a ledger of credentials.

### How do we show a large build project like a house?

Make the project one profile and add photos as it goes up, from the foundation through the finished build, up to 100 photos.

### What should we publish about students and employers?

Your school decides. Work in a private draft, check placements with the employer, and only publish the names and details your school is comfortable sharing.
