Reunion weekend comes around for different classes every year. Build a page for each returning class with its yearbook, senior portraits and old photos, open it at registration, and keep it for the next reunion.

## What is a class reunion display?

A class reunion display brings together a returning class’s senior portraits, yearbook pages and old photos for reunion weekend, usually at the registration table or in the school lobby. With HistoryShowcase, each class gets a folder that stays on the site for the next reunion, and a touchscreen running it full screen keeps working offline if the venue’s connection drops.

- Made for: alumni directors and reunion committees
- Where schools put it: Registration table, The school lobby tour stop, The reunion invitation
- Layouts: Portrait gallery, Photo gallery
- Visitors can filter by: Club or team, Year
- Cost: Free to use. No payment details required.

## Every reunion starts with a box of photos.

A reunion committee usually starts with a box: a yearbook with a cracked spine, a few loose snapshots and somebody’s scrapbook. The photos end up taped to poster board at the registration table, where people crowd around one board while the rest of the room waits. When the weekend ends, the boards go back into someone’s garage.

A class reunion display puts the whole class on a touchscreen at the registration table. Senior portraits open to each classmate’s entry, yearbook pages can be browsed one at a time, and a then-and-now gallery fills with photos the committee adds that weekend. Afterward the class page stays on the school’s site for the next reunion, and classmates who could not travel can open it at its web address.

## How does a class reunion display compare with poster board collages?

| What matters | Poster board collages | HistoryShowcase |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Seeing every classmate | The photos someone had on hand | Every senior portrait from the yearbook |
| Crowding at the table | One board, many people waiting | Scroll the gallery or search for a name |
| Classmates who stayed home | Seen only at the event | Open the published web address from anywhere |
| After the weekend | Boards are packed up and stored | The class folder stays for the next reunion |

## What to put on a reunion display

- **Senior portraits.** Every graduate’s portrait from the yearbook, in a gallery classmates can scroll through to find old friends.
- **Yearbook pages.** Scanned pages from the senior yearbook, browsed one at a time instead of passed around the table.
- **The way things were.** Photos of the old cafeteria, the homecoming float, the senior trip and the dances everyone remembers.
- **Then and now.** Classmates’ recent photos beside their senior portraits, added by the committee before or during the weekend.
- **Classmates we have lost.** A gentle in memoriam collection with a photo and a few words for each classmate who has passed.
- **Teachers from those years.** The faculty who taught the class, with classroom photos and a note from former students.

## How to build a reunion page for one class

Give each class a folder under Reunions. Next year’s returning classes get folders of their own, and nothing gets thrown away.

Site: Reunions

- **Class of 1975 portraits** (Portrait gallery): Senior portraits scanned from the yearbook, one profile per classmate.
- **Class of 1975 yearbook** (Photo gallery): Scanned pages in order, with captions for the best spreads.
- **Then and now** (Photo gallery): Recent photos the committee gathers, beside the senior portraits.
- **In memoriam** (Portrait gallery): Classmates who have passed, each with a few words from friends.

Visitors can filter by: Club or team, Year.

## How do you set up a class reunion display?

1. **Scan the yearbook early.** Scan the senior yearbook a few months out and upload the pages. Smart Add can suggest a classmate list from the senior section for you to review.
2. **Ask classmates for a current photo.** Send the reunion mailing with a request for one recent photo and a line of news, and add replies to each classmate’s entry.
3. **Set it up at registration.** Open the site full screen on the touchscreen near the name tags. It saves the published site, so it keeps working if the venue Wi-Fi drops.

## Where should a reunion display go?

- **Registration table.** Classmates find their portraits while they wait for name tags.
- **The school lobby tour stop.** Returning alumni see their class page during the campus tour.
- **The reunion invitation.** Put the published site’s web address in the invitation so classmates can look before they arrive.

## Class reunion display questions

### Can we use it at an off-campus venue?

Yes. It runs in a web browser, so a touchscreen at the venue can open it. Run it full screen and it saves the published site for offline use, in case the connection there is weak.

### What about classmates who couldn’t make it?

Send them the published site’s web address. Anyone with the link can open it in a browser and see the same class page from home.

### Do we start over for the next reunion?

No. The class folder stays on your site. Five years later the committee adds new then-and-now photos and updates the in memoriam page.

### Who builds the page, the school or the committee?

Either. Add committee members as editors by email. Their work saves to a private draft, and someone in the alumni office with publishing access publishes it.
